Don Rafael was first asked to be an actor when he was a twenty-something veterinarian student in Cuba. Fifty years later he's finally making his acting debut in ANYA. He's retired now from a career as a vet and living in Jackson Heights, Queens.
Don Rafael found us at our open call for extras at La Libreria Barco de Papel. We’d been having difficulty filling the role of THE NARVAL ELDER, an important part but one without any lines. Don Rafael was perfect and took to it like a natural. His was the largest part that we cast with a non-actor. It seems he may have caught the acting bug!
